Re-entry, Multi-entry & Single Entry Visa Options to Macao for Nepalis

For Nepali citizens planning to visit the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), understanding the different types of visa entries — single-entry, double-entry (re-entry), and multiple-entry visas — is crucial for choosing the right category based on travel purpose and frequency. Since visa-on-arrival is not available for Nepali passport holders, all applications must be made in advance through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC)in Kathmandu, and each visa type comes with specific conditions regarding validity, stay duration, and permitted entries.

The Single-Entry Visa is the most common and straightforward option for Nepali travellers visiting Macao for tourism, business meetings, family reunions, or short academic programs. This visa allows one-time entry into Macaowithin a 3-month validity period, with a maximum stay of 14 days. Once the visitor leaves Macao, the visa becomes invalid even if the 3-month period has not yet expired. This category is ideal for first-time travellers, tourists, or applicants who plan a short stay without returning during the same trip.

The Double-Entry (Re-Entry) Visa is suitable for Nepali applicants who need to travel to Macao twice within a short span — for instance, entrepreneurs attending back-to-back business meetings, or visitors transiting between Macao and Hong Kong. This visa is valid for 3 months, allowing two separate entries, each with a maximum stay of 14 days. After the first visit, the traveller can re-enter Macao within the visa’s validity period without reapplying. However, both visits must be completed within three months from the visa issue date. Travellers must carefully plan their flight schedules to ensure both entries fall within this timeframe.

The Multiple-Entry Visa provides greater flexibility for frequent travellers, such as business delegates, long-term investors, or those maintaining professional relationships with Macao-based companies. This visa allows unlimited entries within a 6-month validity period, with a 14-day stay per entry. It is particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs or representatives who travel between Nepal, Hong Kong, and Macao frequently for trade, exhibitions, or ongoing projects. However, the multiple-entry option is granted only to applicants with a strong travel record, previous Macao visas, or verifiable business relations with companies registered in Macao. First-time applicants are usually issued single or double-entry visas instead.

Regardless of entry type, all Nepali visa applicants must submit the same set of core documents:

  • Macao Visa Application Form with two 1.5-inch color photos;

  • Valid passport (original and copies of used pages);

  • Round-trip air ticket booking matching visa validity;

  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host’s residential documents);

  • Bank balance certificate showing funds above MOP 15,000 (issued within one month); and

  • Proof of travel purpose, such as invitation letters, event registration, or kinship documents.

The visa fee is the same across all entry types: NPR 9,400 per applicant, including a visa fee (NPR 3,300), service fee (NPR 3,900), and contact fee (NPR 2,200). Processing time usually ranges between 15 and 30 working days. However, for re-entry or multi-entry visas, the review process may take longer as the immigration authorities verify travel intent and consistency with previous visits.

Applicants should remember that stay duration (14 days per entry) does not change even with multiple entries — the clock resets each time you enter Macao, but you must exit before the 14-day limit expires. Overstaying or misusing the visa category (e.g., working on a tourist visa) can lead to fines, visa cancellation, or future entry bans. Those needing to stay longer for business or employment purposes must apply for a Special Authorization to Stay or a Non-Resident Worker Permit through the relevant Macao government departments.

Choosing the right entry type depends on travel goals:

  • Business or back-to-back travellersDouble-entry visa

By selecting the appropriate category and submitting genuine, complete documents, Nepali travellers can ensure smoother visa approval and stress-free travel between Nepal and Macao.
