Step-by-Step Japan Medical Visa Application via e-Visa Portal

Japan has introduced an official e-Visa portal that allows Nepali citizens to apply for the Japan Medical Stay Visacompletely online. This system makes the process faster, paperless, and more convenient—especially for patients traveling for medical treatment, surgery, or specialized examinations. Applicants no longer need to visit the embassy multiple times; they can upload all documents, receive notifications, and get visa approval digitally.

To start the process, visit the official portal https://www.evisa.mofa.go.jp and create an account with a valid email ID. After registration, select the “Medical Stay Visa” category and fill out your personal, travel, and medical details carefully. You must upload important documents like your Medical Treatment Certificate from a registered hospital in Japan, an Invitation Letter confirming the treatment, a Doctor’s Recommendation from your Nepali physician, Proof of Financial Means, passport, and a recent photograph.

Once all documents are uploaded, review the form and click Submit Application. The system will send you a confirmation email with your Application Reference Number. The Japan Embassy in Kathmandu will then verify your documents and may request additional information if required. The review process usually takes 10 to 14 working days.

After approval, the applicant will receive an e-Visa Approval Email containing a QR Code that replaces the traditional visa sticker. The applicant must show this QR code (printed or on mobile) to airline and immigration officers upon departure and arrival in Japan. This electronic visa ensures a quicker and smoother entry process.

The data reveals a striking liquidity imbalance within the banking system. Although deposits have continued to grow steadily, credit demand has not kept pace. As a result, more than NPR 838 billion (8.38 trillion rupees) has accumulated at Nepal Rastra Bank in various forms, including deposit collection instruments, standing deposit facilities, and central bank bonds. This reflects the inability—or unwillingness—of banks to deploy funds into productive sectors of the economy.
