Sudurpaschim Province Sees Modest 2.05% Inflation Amid Falling Food Prices

Sudurpaschim Province reported a relatively modest overall inflation of 0.31%, one of the lowest in the country. The key factor behind this mild price movement is a -2.47% decline in food and beverage prices, which eased pressure on households. Essentials such as vegetables, cereals, and pulses recorded notable price drops, offering relief to families in both rural and urban areas.
However, the picture changes when looking at non-food and services. Inflation in this category rose by 2.05%, showing that costs related to education, housing, clothing, and utilities continue to climb. Within the province, rural households saw slightly higher non-food inflation at 2.05%, compared to 2.04% in urban areas, indicating that service-sector price pressures are widespread across both segments.
Interestingly, rural Sudurpaschim still recorded a 0.59% overall inflation, while urban areas saw only 0.19%, reflecting that food price declines had a stronger moderating effect in cities. Still, with food prices falling and service costs rising, the data underscores a structural shift in inflation dynamics, where non-food categories are becoming the key driver of living costs even in provinces with stable or falling food prices.
